Work and Drawing and a Tablet!

So I'm finally working, have been for about one month now... I'm just a furniture warehouse/mover guy. It's a pretty good job with great people. I've been able to buy a tablet and it comes with Painter Essentials and Photoshop Elements which I didn't know and was such a nice surprise. So I shutdown GIMP and transitioned to Photoshop Elements and it's a great program for me and my current abilities (there is no way I am going to spend $700 CAD on this hobby that I just started up on for Photoshop CS X. $175 was almost too much, but well worth it I'm finding out)

So I'm going all gung-ho on my latest piece trying hard to get it to the style I want to be able to draw and I'm willing to take as much time as I need to figure it out and get it there. So far I've spent way more time then I can remember and all I've figured out is the head! whew...

At the moment I'm completely stuck and since I'm stuck it's been really difficult to get motivated to draw, cause the moment I sit down all I end up doing is starring at the piece and then trying to find references and tutorials to help me figure out how to draw her dress... so far no luck. I need to learn how to draw believable clothes... and draw period... very much so. However I'm pretty excited with what I've been able to accomplish so far as it is much much closer to the style I want to learn to draw.

So ya, if anyone can teach me how to draw clothes... I would be extremely grateful and might be able to finish this picture, April, sometime this year! :S

Practice, practice, practice, oh and 300 Pageviews

So I moved to BC, Canada and have been waiting for my job to start for 2 weeks, just one more week to go. I basically just grabbed a couple bags, stuffed them full of clothes, grabbed my pillow and flew out to Vancouver. Thankfully, after a month in a small town I changed my mind and moved to my grandma's place so I can get going. Which means I don't have my computer, but can use my grandma's for basic tasks.

In the meantime I'm just practicing my drawing skills and trying to learn new techniques and improve as much as I can until my computer gets here which is in two weeks. Hopefully by then I'll have some decent lineart to have fun coloring. I've just been focusing on faces and hair mainly. I would like to get much more confident and quicker with heads and hair. I can see some pretty big improvements each time I draw a new portrait lately so thats been encouraging.

Oh and I just reached 300 pageviews! I have three friends now, two of which I'm pretty sure will check my page and will give me some good comments, which is alway nice and a great way to improve as well. Maybe I'll do a kiriban at 1k pageviews, would be quite fun, but it won't be for awhile so I'll have plenty of time to practice so that the kiriban might actually be worthwile! :D

100 Pageviews!

Mon Apr 2, 2007, 10:49 AM
So, I'm new but I managed to get 100 pageviews this last weekend thanks to my recent Alizee picture which seems to be my most popular one so far. I don't really care about the pageviews though. I would like to get a little exposure though so that I can get some conistent feedback on my work, some of which are just experiments so I like to hear others opinions on them and so I can improve my next piece.

Other then my slow going art, I got addicted to Eureka Seven just by chance and wow what a great anime series! Renton and Eureka the animes main little couple are just the cutest couple I've seen yet in an anime! I just couldn't get enough of those two. When it was all said and done I felt like the 50 episodes were much too short and I wanted to see a couple more, but I guess thats the sign of a compelling story. Recently I introduced a friend of mine to the series who has never watched anime before and was really self-concious of the "geek" syndrome that gets attached to anime for some reason, but lo-and-behold she is addicted to it after just 5 episodes are so, she is now on the 26th or so episode! So I would definetly recommend it to all those who might be interested in a cute little love story set in a Gundamish setting. It is a mecha anime, but the only one that I've actually liked so far.

I figure I can't help but to draw some Eureka Seven fan art, I've been resisting it so far as I'm not a fan of fan art, but I'm sure I'm going to give in soon...
